COVID-19
and the Coronavirus Taking Its Toll on Your Mental Health?
You may be
feeling unsettled right now or even down-right anxious, angry, or depressed as life
as we know it in America and elsewhere has basically turned upside down due to
the Coronavirus.
It’s normal
to be afraid about what the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic might mean to you,
those you love, and the world at large.
From fears regarding the economy after COVID-19 to uncertainty about
when life as we used to know it will get back to normal, what you are experiencing
is impacting individuals all over the world.
However, just
because many are experiencing anxiety, depression, fear, and concern about the
physical implications of COVID-19, doesn’t mean that these symptoms should be
minimized. They can be very real AND very unpleasant, especially
when you don’t know when the Coronavirus threat will end, when the shelter-in-place
warnings will stop, and when you will be able to rejoin your friends and family
or get out of the house again.
You May
Be Quarantined, but You Need Not Suffer Alone
No matter the
symptoms you are experiencing, it’s important for you to realize that you don’t
have to suffer alone.
Just as we
all need to do our best to take care of the physical health of ourselves and others
at this time of the Coronavirus, we are wise to take care of our mental health
during this time as well.
Being stuck
in the house alone or in close quarters with others, being overworked or out-of-work,
juggling kids no longer out at school, fearing contamination from deliveries, and
limiting trips to the grocery store can really take its toll. People weren’t made for ambiguity and this level
of threat intensity over a long-term basis.
So, if you
find yourself battling anxious thoughts, overwhelming sadness, excessive fears
or phobias, high-levels of frustration, stress, or anger, please reach out.
Online
Therapy for Your Mental Health
While you
may be cooped-up at home, you can still receive mental health counseling during
the Coronavirus quarantine through video sessions through your smartphone or
computer for no extra costs to you. On-line
therapy has been shown to be just as effective as therapy provided in-person in
an office. In fact, it’s even better
because you can wear your pajama bottoms and don’t even have to pay for
gasoline or hop in your car to go anywhere.
It’s easy, and I can walk you through it with just a simple click of a
link that I will provide to you, or we can conduct sessions over the telephone. If you are experiencing anxiety, depression,
sadness, grief, loss, anger, or frustration that is getting in the way of your
mental health during this time of COVID-19, and you live in the Monroeville or
Pittsburgh, PA area or anywhere in Pennsylvania, please contact me to get your
counseling needs met.
